The Eastern Institute of Technology, Ningbo (EIT) is dedicated to preparing the next generation of researchers and innovators. Through its Ph.D. joint training program, EIT has established a comprehensive training system that integrates interdisciplinary training, global collaboration, and research practice aimed at addressing global challenges. The program is designed to nurture top-tier innovative talents with a solid foundation, creative capabilities, a sense of national responsibility, and a global perspective.
The program follows a dual-campus, dual-supervisor model, allowing students to engage in coursework and research at both EIT and its partner universities. Currently, EIT has established in-depth collaborative relationships with Shanghai Jiao Tong University, University of Science and Technology of China, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and the University of Warwick, providing students with cross-cultural research platforms and interdisciplinary academic guidance.
Since 2022, EIT has enrolled 437 doctoral students across four cohorts. These students form part of an expanding international research community. Students gain exposure to research systems in diverse cultural contexts, participate in cutting-edge interdisciplinary projects, and benefit from extensive international academic exchange opportunities. The program attracts a high-caliber student intake with a strong international profile and is already yielding excellent results: doctoral students have published over 80 high-quality papers, with first-year doctoral student Xunkai Duan achieving a first-author publication in PRL. Additionally, eight doctoral students have been awarded the Chinese Government Scholarship.
